Winter Storm Monitoring:

To stay prepared for changing winter conditions, monitor local weather forecasts for snowstorms, freezing rain, heavy snowfall, strong winds, and extreme cold throughout the winter season. Staying informed can give you time to prepare your home and family before hazardous conditions arrive.

Snow & Ice Walkway Safety:

To help reduce the risk of slips and falls, regularly remove snow from walkways, driveways, steps, and other frequently used areas around your home. Apply ice melt or other appropriate deicing products as needed to help minimize icy conditions.

Exterior Vent Clearance:

To help maintain proper ventilation and safe operation, keep exterior furnace, dryer, and other appliance vents clear of snow, ice, and debris. Blocked vents can interfere with proper airflow and may create safety concerns.

Ice Dam Awareness:

To help reduce the risk of roof and water intrusion damage, monitor roof edges and gutters for signs of ice dam formation. Ice dams can prevent melting snow from draining properly and may allow water to enter the home during freeze-thaw cycles.
